Pop’s Italian Beef and Sausage all started with Frank Radochonski. His dedication, hard work, and commitment to success have all paid off for the past 30 years. With the help of his mom Betty, family, friends, and hard working employees, his business continues to grow. The original store first opened March 24, 1980 in Palos Heights, IL. Frank was 23 years old upon opening the store with one goal in mind, to work hard. Nothing could stop this guy from making the most popular fast food restaurant in Palos Heights. Even though there are now many locations the one owned by Frank Radochonski is the first and original. He’s behind the counter day in and day out, making sure his store is up to his standards and of course, able to say hi to one of the many well-known, everyday faces. His business continues to grow with these familiar customers, great food and good service.
So what draws in all Pop’s customers? The food! Pop’s has everything from hot dogs and burgers to grilled chicken and gyros. However, what the store is really known for is its Italian beef sandwiches. You can always tell when it’s a customer’s first time at Pop’s because they always want to try the beef sandwiches (usually ordered incorrectly, we have our first timers ask for ketchup and mayo!) Pop’s prides itself on the freshness of the food, the beef is cooked and sliced fresh every day. Frank’s recipe reveals it’s not generic, it’s quality. When it comes to Pop’s Beef it’s different then a roast beef. It is made with special spices and cut thin and soaked in natural gravy. A single restaurant goes through, on average 2,000 pounds of beef a week during our busy months!
Even though Pop’s is known for their great food, we can’t forget about the great service. Our goal is that the service is fast and every customer is always satisfied. Caring for the customers without compromising the quality of service and products has been driving Pop’s toward success. While the focus is always the food, the key ingredient is our employees; the dedicated individual who prepares, packages, and serves our great product to our guests. We try and make sure that our customers have the best possible experience, hoping after, we see them time and time again! Frank Radochonski’s original dream is not just a single beef stand anymore, it’s a great restaurant that has very high hopes of growth and continued success for the future!
